Get To Know: SIS:DEM
How did SIS:DEM come to be? How did you meet, and when did you decide to come together?
MSG was cooking for the masses at events, Megwan was taking photos and es.kay was hosting the after parties! Shout out to OG ex member, Bubski, who is now running events in LDN! We were always bumping into each other at the same events and just having a dance together, basically.
Once we realised that we could all play what we wanted, mesh it all together and make it sound bangin - that was it! Despite different experiences with DJing, we decided to join forces - we bounced off each other whilst giving each other the confidence and the energy to go for it.
You've had a serious rise over the past couple of years with bookings at Glastonbury, Boomtown and Shambala - what's been a standout moment so far?
There's a few! Glastonbury was obviously a dream. Most recently, after doing BOG when it first started we have been asked to come back and do our own takeover, which is an honour and feels like a full circle moment.
Even putting on many successful events over the last year or so, we are truly grateful for everyone who comes down to our parties. Events have been a game changer, we love it!
You started the 'SIS:DEM Curates' series just over a year ago at The Crown - what is it about that room and crowd that makes it such a good fit for your sound?
It's dark and dingy, just how we like it - and much like a lot of our tunes. The crowd there are always bang up for a proper dance right until lights on.
We like to bring our silly additions like random signs and blow up objects and everyone always just gets right involved and has a vibe with us. We love the connection you get with the crowd in there all partying and dancing together as one gang.
You've shared the stage with some huge acts like Mike Skinner, Sicaria, DJ Spoony and Yung Singh. Who would be your roguest dream B2B (B4B?)?
If we are going rogue, a b2b with the Kurput FM boys would be a madness! We think there may be a few similarities - they love a party whilst also putting in the hours and hard work.
Also they are all quite different characters like us! We thrive on the radio, we're always gassed to work with MC's and lets face it, we can all be a bit silly at times. As long as we could persuade Steve to let us play some dubstep, then we would be all over that!
